(a) Mussolini’s political achievements
Mussolini became the Prime Minister of Italy in 1922.

One of his primary aims was to establish total political control over the country. He achieved this by having the Acerbo law passed in parliament, which would give total government control to the party that won the biggest percentage of votes in the next general election.

In the election of 1924 the Fascist Party of Mussolini achieved an overall majority but many people believed they did so by the use of bribery, intimidation and fear.

This was a huge political achievement for Mussolini and he was able to then rule by decree and he had total political control. He passed thousands of new laws and all other political parties were banned as well as trade unions.
