Georges Plassat
French businessman (born 1949)
Georges Plassat (born 25 March 1949) is a French businessman. He was the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Carrefour[1][2][3] from 2012 to July 2017.
Biography
Early life
Georges Plassat earned degrees from the École hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland and Cornell University.[1][2]
Career
After starting his career at Hilton Worldwide, Plassat worked for Eurest and Groupe Casino, where he served as CEO and then chairman.[1] While at Casino, he insisted on giving stock options to all employees, including cashiers.[1] However, he left the company in 1997 after a disagreement with Jean-Charles Naouri, his successor as CEO, over the future of the company.[4]
He went on to work for French apparel group Vivarte, whose brands include André, Kookaï, La Halle, Naf-Naf and Chevignon.[1] He was named director and CEO in 2004.
